Glad that my friend let me watch this great stuff. If he wants to protect what's important to him, Rikuo must acknowledge his ancestry-that he is the grandson of the legendary Nurarihyon-and transform at night into a youkai, becoming worthy of being the next leader of the Nura Clan. To make matters worse, rival youkai and other entities threaten to harm those Rikuo holds dear. Complicating his goal are his youkai attendant, who under the name Tsurara Oikawa, goes to school alongside him the young onmyouji Yura Keikain and his close friend Kiyotsugu, who idolizes youkai and hopes to prove their existence. Normalcy, however, is hard to come by for young Rikuo. Taking this to heart, he swore to live his life as a normal human. To most, they were terrifying creatures of folklore who ate children and relished in bloodshed. Comprising youkai of all shapes and sizes, Rikuo treated the clan like family, however, he learned that he was the only one among his classmates who saw them in this light.

As for Rikuo, he faces that classic dilemma he’s been seeing for the entire series the split between his human and youkai life, and how it will wreak havoc on his life if his secrets are revealed.Rikuo Nura, a part-youkai and part-human boy, grew up as the young master of the Nura Clan. I have heard that the little girl who killed Rihan (shown back in episode 1) will play a huge role in this series, though I still don’t quite see the connection. I do get the sneaking suspicion that this will blow into an event much bigger than what I’m currently seeing, though as of now I can’t quite imagine what. The confrontation between Nura and the Kekain exorcists should prove to be one hellish conflict for Rikuo, especially if you consider how they easily overpowered Aotabo. His “destroy evil” mentality is certainly intimating, and not to mention, makes his rather deadly usage of his skills seem extremely ruthless.
What’s more provocative here is how Yura’s brother, also of the Kekain bloodline, is a rather aggressive and powerful exorcist. Where the story goes from here should be quite an intriguing one. Knowing how youkai are supposed to be the mortal enemies of the Kekain family, his decision to reveal himself in his youkai form is the same as placing himself on the Kekain’s target list. In a way, I feel bad for how she was deceived, though I guess Nura did have the best of intentions here. Considering her large amount of faith and trust in Nura as a human, the revelation will probably come as a huge shock to her. Kind of a shame their relationship will probably be pretty tense after the events that transpired after their chance encounter.Īs I said before, the major turn of events here is how Nura finally revealed his youkai form to his friend Yura. It’s easy to tell that Yura places good faith in Nura, and Nura does the same. The part with Rikuo’s friends was a way to lead into the involvement of Yura, which of course Nura runs into by himself.

Nothing really crazy or out there, but Aotabo’s chance encounter with the deadly Kekain family certainly was not a good sign. The first half of the episode was rather laid back in tone, with Kurotabo and Aotabo goofing off while discussing the future of the Nura clan. Right off the bat, the turn of events is a rather ominous sign of things to come, but the presence of Yura’s older brother also poses as a rather foreboding signal. However, is it just me, or did the pacing feel really rushed and messed up at times? Especially that initial scene with the random youkai that Rikuo makes a contract with just where the heck did that come from? Nevertheless, the story did get much more interesting, with Yura now almost definitely aware of Nura’s status as Nurarihyon. Well, this episode certainly had a rather intriguing turn of events.
